River Arun - Arundel Trip
River Arun - Arundel Trip
This little gem in West Sussex is one of the least strenuous of our guided kayaking river trips. This river trip works with the tide and with the strong flow that pushes up the river Arun we get plenty of help along the way. As we set off in our canoe or kayak we leave the stunning Arundel Castle behind. Being pushed inland by the tide we pass through some of the best and most secluded nature reserves and countryside West Sussex has to offer.
The river Arun is teeming with wildlife and we regularly see heron, kingfisher and water vole to name just a few examples. We make our way up river past the popular Black Rabbit Pub and before long we've found ourselves in the heart of the West Sussex countryside. As the tide starts to turn we have a rest and a snack before getting back onto the water and heading back. As the river meanders and snakes its way back to Arundel we get some stunning views of Arundel, dominated by the Castle.
Who's it for?
Our river Arun kayak trip is based on the calm waters of West Sussex so it's open to everyone, although as we will be out on the water for around four hours it isn't recommended for under 14's. Whilst no previous kayaking experience is necessary you will need a sense of adventure and a reasonable level of fitness. This trip is ideal for a group looking for a relaxing adventure, with a different view of West Sussex that finishes in a perfect location for a great riverside lunch.
What you'll need:
All equipment required (except personal clothing) will be supplied by us. Bring along a wetsuit or warm layers to paddle in; fleece material and wool are best. We will be on the water for several hours so something to drink and a snack will be needed. Sun cream if it's a hot day.
Timings:
Our river Arun guided kayak trips run all year round. Each trip has a different start time depending on the tide. The trip runs for approximately 4 - 4.5hrs.
